I'm two months out from bypass; just joined a new gym. Im going three days a week doing a mix of machines and cardio. Trying to target each body part during the week.

  • What are your workout routines?
  • What machines work best for bypass losers?
  • What machines work best for excess skin areas?

I do spinning 3 days a week, and I just added weights (5 weeks post-op). I'm going to start running again. My problem is I'm always so tired :(

I'll be 3 months post-op on May 4th, I have not gotten on the treadmill at home for the last week, because of my previous injury to my knee, and I so tired, but usually I'm on my treadmill 4-5 days a week for 30 minutes, I have begun to do sit-ups and I have the walk away the pound video that I use 2 -3 times a week, this video have abs exercise and 30 minute walk segments, I use this video sometime in place of my treadmill. I'm not confrontable at this point to join any gym, and I do know my weight as of today but will find out at my 3 months post-op follow-up appointment.

Does your gym have personal trainers? I just joined one about 6 weeks ago and bought a package of personal trainer appointments and it's really been a great experience. They sit down and ask you about your goals and limitations and then help develop a plan just for you.

I consider that money spent as an investment in my health, just like the surgery.

Best wishes!

SullysRants,

I've got severe joint problems so the only way I can work out is in a pool.

My usual workout: I do a 2 lap warmup and then alternate with swim/jog/cross country ski for 30 minutes. After that, I use resistance buoys to do arm/abdominal and back muscle work. I finish with thorough stretching that I learned attending Water aerobics classes.

Went to Water aerobics for several years before I had the surgery and I think it REALLY paid off. I had more strength and my surgeon was extremely pleased with how quickly I recovered from surgery.

Kathleen

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
