In the past two weeks I have put on 10 pounds. I panicked when the first 4 came on and decided it was time for a fill appointment the doctor was unable to locate the port. He rescheduled for next friday but in the mean time I feel like all my weight is coming back with vengeance. I eat under 1500 calories and most of it actually gets stuck what's going on?

Oh my goodness. What are you eating and are you exercising? Are you retaining fluids? Ten lbs is almost impossible in 2 weeks.

Sorry to hear you're having troubles! I hate to say it, but if you are getting stuck a lot already, you probably don't need another fill. If you are really having a hard time getting food down without it getting stuck you might actually be too tight, or you're eating the wrong foods.

My advice is to re-examine your eating and exercise habits. Try tracking what you eat in a food journal or an app like My Fitness Pal. That will give you a better idea of how much Protein you're getting, if you're truly staying in the right calorie range (eating too few calories is detrimental too!), and you can make a note of what kind of foods get stuck for future reference. For exercise, just try and stay as active as possible, even if you're only walking for 30 minutes a day.

I know all of that sounds kind of "duh", but sometimes taking it back to the basics helps reset yourself and allows you to refocus.

Best of luck to you! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
