Help! Six months post op and not losing weight!

Recommended Posts

I've been mostly eating Protein only. I don't like vegetables very much. Is it important to eat veggies? I eat a little fruit, bust mostly just fish and chicken; which I'm getting sick of. The only weight I've lost is during the all liquid diet and when food go stuck and I was throwing up for 5 days. I guess I'm having a hard time finding out when I'm in the green zone.

sorry I'm confusing you. I guess what I'm saying is even though I was supposedly in the green spot I was eating way more than 3 to 4 ounces of food. I don't know why food got stuck at my band. I was eating normally then all of a sudden one day I couldn't keep anything down.

I had my surgery 1 year ago. I have lost 100 pounds and still have 100 pounds to go. I still struggle with your same problem. If I eat slowly I can eat a full plate I have never felt satisfied with 1 or less cup of food. I can drink normally. I am almost to the limit of my filling (I am at 9.5cc of a 10cc band) and still not in the green zone) so far the restriction has been always on my mind (meaning I stop myself even if I'm still hungry) and making good choice regarding food and working my ass off at the gym. For me, personally, the band has had a small role in the weight loss, so it has been frustrating. It is just one more tool. I do not regret having the surgery (or spending 10k out of my own pocket), but I should have prepare myself better for all the struggles. I have not lost any weight in almost 2 months so it worries me that the band is no longer "working" (though everything was ok on my last check up a couple of days ago). With that being said, I will not stop this process that I've started, even if it takes me twice as I expected and have to do it all on will power (and the grace of God).

Just my two cents. :)

There are a few other docs who agree with this but most doctors still adhere to the no drinking rules. And I think O'Brien only speaks of beer and not soda pop.

And it's my belief that doctors still adhere to the old drinking rules because many patients abuse drinking while eating and use fluids to wash food through the band. It takes a lot of discipline to not chug Water and wash food through the stoma and eating discipline isn't one of our attributes.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
