Hello everyone! Happy Easter!

I was wondering how long it took before you were ready to go back to work after your band surgery. I have read alot about the pain it looks like some of you were in. I have my surgery Wednesday and I am scheduled to go back Monday. Did I take enough time off? My work has NO heavy lifting, thank God.

What should I do in preperation? I am SO excited!!

Hello TracyTX, welcome and congrats on getting banded!

This is a question that is asked almost as much as can I have soda after the band?

Here's a few links to some threads that have a couple of pages each about this subject, there are a couple of polls in this list, too. That way you can see what many people have done. Hope these help!

You will probably be fine. I was banded on a Thursday and went back Monday. I was movin' slowly, but I made it through the day. (That said, I was lucky to recover amazingly fast - faster than most patients my doctor had seen, he said.) Plan to rest up on Monday night.

But also plan for the possibility of calling in sick on Monday morning if you need to. Just planning for that mentally will take a load off your mind. There is no need to push yourself to the edge if you simply aren't up to it.

Sorry about asking again....

No, no, it's fine, I just noticed you are fairly new and probably haven't had the chance to find the other threads yet on your own. And since it is a holiday for a lot of people, I also knew there probably wouldn't be a lot of responses to this thread for at least a while. If you are anything like me, when I want to know something, I want to know NOW. So I thought I'd help you find some answers.

Tracy, I took 1 more day off then you and I was fine. Just make sure you have your blender or whatever you need to be successful on the liquid stage. That is the most important. Julie

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
