Yesterday the nurse said that they will cancel your surgery if you don't follow the liver shrink diet. My question is how would they know... I have been on my pre op diet for 3 days and it's tough. I don't want to cheat but at times I am weak. I know I have it better than some who are on liquids only, I can have 3oz of meat and veggies at dinner time.

This morning my mind is stuck on chocolate...????

I know I must do this... I need encouragement this morning!

Hang in there...you can do this! After all the hoops you have to go through, all the tests, all the classes, all the appointments....you CAN do this too. Drink Water til you can't put anything else in you. Keep us updated...let us know when you have surgery and how you are doing. And congrats on making this life changing decision.

Thank you for your encouragement. I felt very unsure of this process this morning, but I feel better now. I know this will be tough, but I know it is worth it.

My surgery is April 23, 2014 and I am very excited. I know there will be many adjustments I have to make to ensure success. I am ready. I am strong. I can do this. .... (that's what I have to keep telling myself)

The pre-op diet is tough for the first 3 or 4 days, then it's way easier. Hang tight, we've all been there and got thru it. You ARE strong and you CAN do this.

Please whatever you do do not cheat. It's important for you to stay on your liquid diet. When we are over weight, our liver becomes fat and being on the liquid diet it defats the liver which makes it easier to operate. If you cheat and don't lose the weight and when the surgeon sees inside that your liver is still fat, they will close you up and send you home. Yes it's tough to do the liquid diet but it's doable. You can do it.

Stay strong and you have 7 more days...I promise you time will go by fast.

Good luck and God bless!

Please don't give up now, can you imagine that the day of surgery you get all prepped and get into the operating room and get put to sleep and when the doctor goes to operate he opens you up and the liver is too swollen to do the surgery so they stitch you closed and when you wake up they tell you that they could not do it and you'll have to come back. OMG what a nightmare that would be!! :o

You CAN do this, you've done everything else so think of how far you have come. That is proof of how strong you actually are!

Back in 2008 I went thru everything and just when I was to start the 2 week pre-op diet I got an infection in my leg that lead to two surgeries and I could not have the bypass. Now I am starting all over again and how I wish I was where you're at now.

Please post again if you get frustrated, we will support you, that's what we're here for, to help each other out :D

I knew you could do it. I have been on the liver shrink diet since March 3rd and my surgery hasn't even approved yet. I will admit it I have fallen off the band wagon for the last couple of days. I am really stressed about my case being submitted to insurance this week. I am going to get right back on it tomorrow, it's a new day.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
