I have been to a seminar and really want to be banded. My spouse went with me and his is in agreement. But the money that it costs is such an obstacle to overcome. I weigh 235lbs today at 5'4" and I'm miserable. I have ridden the weight rollercoaster all my life and I want to be skinny. I have 3 children 7y/o to 15 mon. My 4 yr old says that she doesn't want to have fat elbows like me. I don't want to be an embarrassment to my children. I shop Lane Bryant trying to look my best but I'm not happy with my looks most of the time. Shopping is just a temporay fix. My husband loves me but I don't feel sexy enough to enjoy our lovemaking. I have such a supportive man he is wonderful. How did you afford it? Please give me some feed back the only thing that is standing in my way is the money. My spouse and I are both RN's but I work 2-3 days every 14 days so that I can be with my children, we agreed to do this for them. I would appreciate any info. I know someone that went to Mexico but she has to drive to Texas for fills. I would love to stay with a surgeon in Arkansas.

I have concidered Mexico too b/c of the hassle my insurance has been giving me b/c I don't have other problems like high blood pressure, etc. I have found the yahoo group about surgery in Mexico to be very resourceful when researching a Doctor there.

My insurance covered it so I was lucky. Hadn't my insurance not covered it I would have dug up the money somehow to have it done. That being said, could you pull in some extra shifts to make the monthly payment?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
