I DID IT! One day post op

Recommended Posts

Despite some serious anxiety the day before surgery I was sleeved on 4-8-14. The pain has been a little worse than I anticipated. I have to admit I have questioned why I did this a little. Then I remember this short term pain will be worth the long term affects. I have been walking but have still had a lot of gas built up in my chest. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for getting rid of it? I am completely amazed how I am on liquids and not feeling hungry!!! This is amazing. I think once the pain is gone its gonna be the best decision ever.

Congratulations, and welcome to the losers bench! You're going to do GREAT! Heating pads helped me with the gas and, of course, walking when you can. The lack of hunger is pretty amazing, isn't it? Keep sipping Water, and again, congratulations!

Be well…

We are twins! Lol. I had surgery same day and feeling exactly the same. Congrats! I'm struggling with gas but walking and deep breathing helps.

Yesterday was pretty rough. When did you all start to feel better after the surgery?

Getting better slowly but had a little energy fail tonight. Trying too hard. Need sleep. Chin up :)

Congrats! I felt much better after about a week... went back to work at 2 weeks and my energy level was fine. Keep on walking and that gas pain will go away soon! The worst is over with... it's all uphill from here! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
