Miscarriage close to 2 years after sleeve

Recommended Posts

I became pregnant in December and was very happy. I just found out last week that my baby's heart stopped a month ago at 14 weeks. I was 18 weeks pregnant and didn't know my baby was dead inside of me :-(. I have had 3 successful and healthy pregnancies and am devastated. Although the dr. said it's not due to the sleeve I am unsure. While I was pregnant I gained 20 pounds. Not only did everything taste great but I felt as though I didn't have the surgery. I was able to eat quite a bit. The even weirder part is that after I had D & C and was no longer with child my appetite went back to normal...which is eating minimal and lots of things I ate when pregnant were no longer appealing. I had the sleeve back in May of 2012 so it definitely wasn't too soon to get pregnant.

I'm so sorry :( Doesn't sound like it was the sleeve.

I had a friend that went through this (without the sleeve). She blamed herself for being too active. I am so sorry for your loss.

After the baby was gone you also got rid of the relaxin hormone which relaxes not only your joints but also stomach muscles making it easier to get food. I am so sorry this happened to you I am 35 weeks and every little thing has me worried this time...

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss :-(

I also lost my baby in February 2014. I was 23 weeks pregnant when I went to the scan to be told baby had died at 19 weeks. I also didn't know baby had died as I was sure he was moving still. I had to be induced and deliver our boy. We had an autopsy done and the results were uterine growth restriction.

I had the gastric sleeve in September 2012. I lost 5 stone but my weight stabilised before becoming pregnant. They said it can't be because of the surgery but I'm unsure as it seemed the midwives didn't know what the surgery was at my first appointment and lack of knowledge with the health professionals. I have have two healthy children previous.

I am now 7 weeks pregnant with twins and I have to take aspirin and lots of Vitamins everyday also scans every two weeks.

I hope you and your partner are coping ok. I know how painful this is. Still think of my baby every day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
