As long as you get in you recommended amount of Protein you are fine. It does not matter if it is solid or liquid.

i don't think it really matters how you get the Protein in….just that you get it in. right after surgery it's hard to eat that much meat and Protein. i will be a month out on the 10th and still rely heavily on the Protein shakes. however, there is a protein product with no taste that you can sprinkle in food or your drinks. from what i understand no protein=no hair. i don't want to be bald! that's the only thing keeping me going with the shakes at this point.

Many can not reach their daily Protein goals without a shake because of the small amount of food and calories eaten. If you can that's great. I am 8 months post op and I still drink a Premier Protein Drink every morning.

Nope not at this point. You still need assistance to get your proper amount of Protein in. Put Protein powder in sugar free pudding or yogurt. You will get to the point where you won't need it as much. But not yet. If you take your calories down too far..You will stop losing. As your body will shut you down.

Protein is the building block of this program and if you don't eat enough then your hair will fall out as well. The sleeve is healing but not quite yet. Okay!

the ultimate goal is 60 gms of Protein. Right now your tummy can't take that in with meat solids... You still need help!! K

When I was at one month out my goal was 75 grams of Protein per day. You may want to try Greek yogurt and cottage cheese in addition to meat in order to meet your Protein goals. There's no way I could have eaten enough to get all my protein in at a month out . . . I still need to have a Protein shake every day and I am nine months out! Good luck to you.

Premier Protein is 160 calories and 30 grams of Protein. My surgeon said that protein is 4 calories per gram so of the 160 calories in the drink, 120 of them is protein making it an excellent choice in his opinion.

Hi, I know how you feel. I was having no problem on pre-op with the Protein shakes, but now it's all I can do to get them down without gagging them up. It's nice to know there's others out there.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
