Losing pounds but not sizes

Recommended Posts

I've lost 35 lbs and my clothes are just getting comfortably loose... I too am waiting to go down a size or two.. I think one of the issues is most of my clothes are stretchy cotton.. I stopped wearing blue jeans about 3 years ago when they felt too tight.. those jeans fit again.. but not the size 20s and less!

I haven't had my surgery yet but from my past weight loss history, I lose weight in the order I gained it. I'm heavier on the bottom half. Thats the first place the weight goes then works its weight up. Then when I lose it, I have to lose all the weight on top then finally it will start to work its way off the bottom half. I think it has to do the way your body is shaped.

Blondiee,

I was probably straining the top end of a 22 at my heaviest. They weren't button popping, but they were pretty tight and I'm sure that being at the top of one size is partially the reason why it seems to be taking longer to go down a size. And things are finally loos enough that I think I am at least within 5-10 pounds of a new size so it's not like there's no end in sight. I think I just got down a little bit down seeing so many people talking about how drastic their body transformations have been when they have lost fewer pounds than I have. I'll get there though, I'm sure, and I'm grateful to everyone who replied with encouragement and support!

:)

I am only about a month out but I have found that I am still in the same size and nearly 40 pounds down. But I have noticed the part of my stomach that hung down is smaller, and I have been told that once I do start dropping sizes it will happen fast... just hang in there!

I felt the same way....I thought I was going to be in 24s forever. I realize now that I was really a 26 and squeezing into 24's. It was about 40 lbs before I started changing sizes. The sizes change faster now - need fewer lbs to go down one size when the sizes are smaller. I am losing more slowly but the sizes are going down :-)

When I started I wS in a 26/28. 3 months later and 60 lbs, I'm now only in a 22/24. You are not alone.

Feel the same, weight has dropped but not so much in clothing size. They do feel more loose which is good. At least I don't have to buy a lot if clothes at this point, i'll wear what I have for now.

I've lost almost 50 lbs. I was in a tight 24. I'm now in a 22. I have 2 pairs of 22's that are still too tight. My shirts went from a 2XL t-shirt to a XL. It feels like by pant size should be smaller. I loset 60 lbs on WW at one time (9 months) and went from a 24 to a 20. I know eventually I'll wear smaller pants, but for now it's tough realizing that my butt isn't shrinking like I would like.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
