I have done a lot of research on this weight loss stuff. I made a decision with my doctor last Friday that we would do the lap band. I have finished all of my tests (gastric, cardiology, nutritionist, psychiatric and nutritionist). So now we are waiting to hear from the insurance company. I hope they make a fast decision. I want to get this show on the road.

Best of luck to you! One bandster was approved by her insurance in 2 days. Mine denied, I appealed, 8 months later they approved and I had my surgery. But most people don't have to wait that long. There's no way to tell how long your insurance co. will take to decide. Probably longer than you want, but then all of a sudden the wheels start turning very quickly.:D

You have to do what you have to do. It must be a blessing to have the money to pay for it. I dont want to go that route but my husband has said if I have to go ahead.

help me understand the numbers below your name. I think the first one is your starting weight, right? What's the next one?

Welcome! I hope you get fast approval from your insurance company! My approval was fast... but as you can see... some are not as cooperative. Wishing you the best and be sure to keep us updated... you are going to love your band!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
