May 2014 Sleevers

  • Popular Post

I finally got my insurance approval this week and my surgery is scheduled for May 20. If seems SO far away but hoping the time will fly by. I've been trying to adapt my diet to more like it will need to be post-op but find myself eating horribly about once a week. I think it's the food funerals starting. I did really well during the week and had lost 2 pounds this week and then last night after work ate whatever I wanted (it wasn't good). Are others going they this same struggle?

Would love to find people who are anxiously awaiting their May surgery dates and be here to provide support for each other as we start this journey to change our lives!

Hello there, I have my date and it's set for May 7th, and I'm getting scared as heck! I've been doing food funerals! I'm excited and darter watching the procedure, ghost watching everyone..I'm ready for the change!

Mine was May 7th also. How was yours?

Had surgery on may 7th..i must had a weird reaction to the anesthesia becsuse i waz so groggy yesterday..they kept me an extra night because my iron and pottassium were low..plus my surgery didnt even get done til 4pm wednesday..i am feeling much much better today..getting fluids down and my stomach only really hurts when i get up

Was sleeved on May 7th. Hope everything continues well for you as well!

The pain gets better everyday congrats to u!

My surgery is today at 1200 central time. Prayers and good thoughts welcome. :)

Praying for a gentle recovery!

I had my sleeve on May 7th, 2014. To my surprise it has gone really well. I did not have any pain medication until I got ready to leave the hospital. And there after really had no need for any. And believe me I am not one for pain. I have 5 small incisions that were covered with a glue type sealant. My doctor gave me a prescription of a cream for the scar that was for pain and another for the scar to heal better. I have B12, prilosac, iron , calcium caltrate, and vitamin d. I think I am most impressed with the lack of pain. I do find it hard to scarf down 60 grams of protein because it is almost like my stomach crittles up when I drink something. I don't have a lot of energy either probably because of the lack of protein. But just curious what kind of soups you eat in week 2. I am big Bisque eater. I love mushroom bisque, tomatoe bisque, lobster and crap bisque, etc? Also I WAS (Lord, knows if I will be now) a BIG Mexican food eater could eat it breakfast, lunch and dinner. Has anyone had any trouble tolerating Mexican food? Any other tips for post op?

I'm officially sleeved! Lots of gas pain but other than that all good :)

I got the same letter from BCBS. I was going to call surgeon's office just to check, but I kind of figured it was like skellertx says. The default is 1 day.

I did not stay in the hospital overnight at all. I also had my surgery by way of hiatal hernia repair method. My doctor just did all my test to make sure I was ok to be released and I was in my bed for the night. No problems or complications!

I had my surgery May 5th. I was scared and nervous but was so pleasantly surprised. It seems to have been so easy. Other than a little tenderness at the incision sites, I have had no pain, and best of all, NO HUNGER! You all will do great and I am excited for yall!

Same results here. Had mine on the 7th

I was sleeved on the 7th, it does get better day by day!

How does everyone's large incision feel? Mine is a ton better but it still hits to use muscles in that spot.

Surprise call from my dr that I can go for my surgery tomorrow! Wow talk about last minute, beggers can't be choosers I'll take it! Magnesium citrate here I come.

My surgery is scheduled for May 23rd, and I. Am both super excited and really nervous. From reading all the posts here, I know this is normal but so many emotions. This may be the hardest part.

my2 mine is the 23rd too! I start a one week low fat liquid diet this Friday. 100% fruit juice, skim k, sugar free pops, sugar free Jello , Protein shakes and low fat chicken cream Soup and tomato soup ugh.... Right this second I'm scared but in an hour or two I'll probably be excited again. too have been flip flopping back and forth emotionally. So happy to see others feel the same. Its a huge life changer! Just have to keep telling myself its only food and I will be much healthier. Easier said right lol

Gettinfit, I wish you the best of luck on your journey. Yes, it is a lot easier said than done, but when I am being rational and thinking clearly, I realize that child birth also wasn't a walk in the park - and look at those rewards! I know this is what I need to do, I just get scared, and then start to talk myself out of it. One and a half weeks from now, it'll all be over, and then the journey can truly begin. :)
