Newly banded...question?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on march 7th and am going in for my first fill on April 7th. My question is this: is it normal for weight loss to stop when going from liquids to solids? I haven't lost an ounce since going to solids. I lost 14 lbs the first 2 weeks, but nothing since. Not sure if this is to be expected or not. Does this typically improve after a fill? Haven't really been working out much either. Just getting over pneumonia and regaining my strength/endurance. I'm sure exercise will help the situation. Thanx for any info/help.

having solid food after two weeks from surgery can give you a little stomach pain... and i think you should go with regular exercises ..this can help you to get the best good long term results..

Personally - when I moved to solids, I gained three pounds. I'm told by my doctor that this is normal, you'll shed those again. I had my first fill only the past Thursday. Keep moving, keep with your program. Good luck!

Great news! I did indeed start losing again. I STOPPED weighing daily or even weekly. I have decided weighing monthly is appropriate for me. I weighed on April 15, and am down 20 pounds total since surgery on March 7. Feeling better every day. Thanx for the supportive words????

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
