I feel like im never going to feel normal again..

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I am 25 days post op and it has been the worst 25 days my life. I'm not able to keep anything in my system. Everything runs right through me. I've done everything my nutritionist and surgeon have said to do but I still can't make it 20 minutes without running to the restroom. I feel like I always have a lump of something stuck in my throat even if I haven't had anything to eat. I'm tired all the time. I cannot tolerate Protein Shakes anymore, they make me gag. I don't even know what to eat anymore. I've tried everything I'm allowed. I haven't had much of anything but Water in the last 3 days. I returned to work on Monday and Tuesday but had diarrhea so bad the rest of the week I couldn't make it in. I feel like I have made the wrong decision. I haven't even been focused on my weight because I can't move past everything else. I'm so discouraged and depressed. I see my doctor today but I'm not sure what she is going to tell me that she hasn't already said. Am I ever going to feel normal again? ????

Hi Leesa, I am really interested in what your Dr. has to say and in your progress. I , too , have problems with diarrhea and am waiting to be scheduled for RNY after Band removal last yr. I don't know if I can do it ,if I end up with constant diarrhea ,because I already take a med to keep food from moving through my system too fast. If this gets worse, I probably won't make it to the restroom! I had some damage to my pelvic floor with the birth of my last child( almost 12# baby), and worse diarrhea is my worst fear with Bypass surgery. Has anyone else had these problems and overcome or moved beyond the diarrhea stage?

Hi Leesa. I hope you are starting to figure out your issues. I am having similar problems. I have a very hard time keeping my Protein down. The only thing I can eat are puddings, shakes, yogurt and rice cakes. I can't keep any meat, Beans or fish down. I feel like I throw up at least once a day and question my decision to have the surgery. I have many coworkers and friends who have had the surgery and it helps talking to them. I am 7 weeks out and very frustrated and depressed. The only thing that helps is talking with other people who have had the surgery. I feel like I haven't even lost that much. Its 25lbs but I know that I don't get my reccomended protein a day and it seems like rice cakes and shakes are my only go to foods. Its very frustrating but hopefully it gets better with time. I hope you feel better soon. Thanks for sharing.

It will get better! I'm 2mos. post and down 60 lbs it has been up and down with the feeling normal. I still have days that I think will this ever get easier ,but then I remind my self with all the good that has happened. Like being able to move better, off most of ny meds, no cpac machine, no insulin (and I was on a lot) ,plus the energy that I have I hadn't seen in years! Not to mention the 60 lbs gone! This is the best thing I've done for myself and it is a life style change. Give your body time to heal and follow your doctors plan, call him if you can't get your Protein and fluids in.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
