Hi I went from 275 day of surgery to 282 since my surgery on TUesday. How long before it starts dropping? Is it different for everyone?

Hi Beldary,

Well I can't speak for anyone else but the day after my surgery I thought I was going to need some Oompa Loompas to take me to the Juicing Room and roll me around to get rid of the bloating I had. My doctor told me that they were pumping me full of fluids via my IV and that it is normal to gain weight right after the operation. I didn't weigh myself until day 12 when I had my normal follow up appointment and by then the bloating and Water weight was gone. I actually think it was gone by around day 3 or 4. Also it was hard at first to even get my 60 oz of fluids in so I think you'll find that you will lose all that Water weight soon enough.

Remember look at this longer term as in at least weeks and months not days or even hours. Also good luck to you on your journey and recovery!

I gained seven pounds from immediate pre-surgery weigh-in to my first morning at home two days later. It was a little alarming until I remembered the IV bags and such. Now at seven days out it's all gone and more. Beldary, the best is quickly on its way to you. My challenge now is getting in more walking. I'm just a few days ahead of you and each day something has changed and luckily each have been good.

My best wishes for journey

Yup, what everyone has said here. I left the hospital up 8 lbs from when I went in, those IV fluids had me bloated like a stuffed sausage. It'll come off (and then some) before you know it.

Best of luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
