Banding 4/9/7 (finally)

Recommended Posts

This is my first post because I didn’t think I was ever going to get a surgery date after months of Doctors and test and more Doctors and more test.

I have been lurking around this site for some time now gathering info and encouragement. It is by far the best site I have found.

My surgeon is Dr. Viego Lopez in South Florida he and his staff have been great.

I’m more excited then nervous. My sister had gastric bypass 2 weeks ago and tried to encourage me to do the same but I just couldn’t go that route besides it being to scary the recovery time wouldn't work for me with my 11 month old ball of energy.

Glad to see other bandsters with the same surgery date as me.

CAN'T WAIT :)

Thank you both for wishing me well. I have to be at the hospital monday at 6:00am I'm the Docs first surgery of the day, don't know if that's a good thing or not. Guess that depends if he's a morning person :(

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
