Recommended Posts

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Cherie I am 44, I'm 5'7 1/2 and my BMI is 48 I think. My starting weight was 300, but I went to see my regular doctor today and I have lost 4 pounds so I am going in the right direction. I have started my gastric bypass journey.. So far I have went to the information seminar, did blood work today, I have my psychological test on April 7th, April 9th I meet the doctor, nutritionist, have a fitness class and nutrition class then on 21st I go back and review with psychological doctor my results. This is so exciting and something I have wanted my whole life. I love that I have found this forum and look forward to talking with you all and being positively motivated throughout.

Hello! I just had my GP surgery 16 days ago. It was quite the journey getting to that point. I'm very fortunate because I have a wonderful support system (husband, kids, a couple of friends I chose to tell) and a fantastic medical team. Finding this site has been extremely helpful. This community is very supportive of each other and you can find all sorts of information. Good luck with your surgeries, ladies!

Thank you everyone for your support! I just received confirmation that I have zero nicotine in my system which is a huge accomplishment I have smoked 31 years and quit when I was told it may stand in my way, nope not this time. On to stage 2. I have a question are you massively hungry when you only eat a small amount?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
