Nauseated in the morning

Recommended Posts

Anyone else nauseated when you wake up in the morning? I am every morning. I am three months out and am nauseated and starving in the morning. Eating eleveates the nausea some mornings but other times it doesn't. Those days I wind up having to take a Zofran for it because if I don't I will start to dry heave.

That pretty much had been my state since I came home from surgery, however, after much tinkering, I discovered the nausea (for me) is a sign of dehydration. I now am in the habit of drinking a glass of Water first thing when I get up in the morning and the sensation goes away. It has gotten better since I started back to work and was able to have my big glass of crystal light at my desk but I stick to the habit. Please understand prior to my sleeve, the thought of drinking water first thing in the morning made me nauseated, but now, it takes care of it.

I am 7 weeks post- op and have been having severe nausea. I'm currently taking Phenegren in suppository form &'that helps some. But the nausea gets worse as the day goes on. Is anyone else experiencing this? I am also taking Zofran in pill form. I've been checked out internally via CT tests, MRIs, colonoscopy, etc. and they all come back fine. If you have nausea, how long does it last? All day? How long have you had it? Any suggestions welcome.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
