Trouble getting my protein in

Recommended Posts

That is way too much Protein for ANY sleeve patient. 60-80 g is the max you should have. Too much Protein is hard on your kidneys and sleeve patients cannot get in enough Water to protect the kidneys from damage. This information is from my surgeon.

I think that statement of Water and protein may be true in first 6 months, 1 year or whatever is the honeymoon phase for an individual, but changes when you are out further. Drinking a lot of water is no challenge to keep kidneys filtered from high protein diet. You just need to practice and slowly increase as you desire. I am talking about after you reach goal and are working on muscle building. At almost 22 months post op, let me assure you that it is not a problem.

Rebellious butterfly - yes, in WA it's what we are recommended to get by the dietician. It goes through every single stage of diet including the pre op diet and it has delicious recipes in it. Just google it - I'm sorry, I can't seem to ad the picture. Does anyone know how to ad a pic from the desktop? I see the option to ad an image URL but everytime I try to do that it tells me 'not allowed'.

thank you so much, we actually follow this at northwestern

I am still in full liquids, and I am really having trouble getting Protein in. All of the protein powders say to add 8-16 oz of Water or milk. I can barely take in 3 oz every 2 hours. Any tips on how to get it in?

Amanda I found a great Protein Powder that has 30 g in just 4 oz of water called max pro found at max muscle

I just tried the Lean shake 25 by GNC. It is really good! I bought three flavors: banana Cream, strawberry and chocolate. The banana is really good. Its really light unlike the thick shakes I have tried. I am going to try to get in at least 50g of Protein today. Thank you everyone for your help.

I have chocolate and chocolate Peanut Butter of this brand and they are very good! I thought they'd be awful! Someone told me for more of a peanut butter taste to can also put PB2 in it. I think that will add more flavor and protein. PB 2 is awesome too. Tastes wonderful!

I put a tablespoon of PB2 in one of my Premier Protein drinks. I couldn't drink it, it tasted really bad to me. So now, I have this almost new can of PB2 and I won't be using it unless I can come up with something else to put it in.

I have chocolate pb2.....I think it tastes better. You can try adding some cocoa and some sweetener and see of that helps. Dip apples and celery in it!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
