Bathroom issues....TMI

Recommended Posts

Ok, this may seem like too much information, but I need to know if I'm the only one....

While on the two week preop liquid diet, I was in the bathroom at least once every 45-60 minutes to empty my bladder. I'm now 8 days post op, taking in 60+ ounces of fluids the same as before surgery, and I'm lucky to visit the bathroom 4 times a day. When I do go, it's not much.

Is this normal with anyone else?

I would bring it up at my next doctors visit just the same if I were you. Could be nothing but can't hurt to ask about it.

I plan on it. I have my two week post op appointment on Tuesday.

Same thing happened to me. What I read about it is that your carb stores in your liver hold on to Water so when you're doing your preop diet you're flushing out a lot of excess carbs and water.

Same thing happening to me. I just consider that pre surgery, I drank a LOT of diet Pepsi and now it is a steady intake of Water and milk. I chalk the change up to the fact that my body is somehow using the water and milk whereas before it was flushing out the gratuitous amount of diet soda I used to drink.

My doctor told me during my pre-op that my bathroom habits would change. Drinking the liquids, along with the laxative, was helping to flush your large intestines before your surgery. Question for you...were your bm's watery during your liquid diet?

I wasn't given a laxative pre-op, just had the two week liquid diet. I had a bm about a week after surgery and am now back to my normal schedule like before surgery. The only thing that has changed is my urine output. It's a LOT less.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
