June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

Recommended Posts

I haven't found any of the Isopure tolerable. They taste and smell like chemicals. Which is too bad because they have so much Protein. I haven't tried the myoplex yet. Does it taste chemical?

i know what you mean about the chemical taste, but the black tea for me is tolerable. i pour it over crushed ice and squeeze a good amount of lime (or lemon) in it. i tried 3 other flavors, but they were really gross. the myoplex is definitely much better tasting. the chocolate fudge is the one i buy. it's not exactly chocolate milk, but very tasty when nice and cold. give it a try and let me know what you think.

I use Premier Protein. I've liked it. I usually use vanilla or chocolate. I blend half a cup of fruit into it or spinach/kale. I find the taste tolerable. A container is on,y 160 calories and 30 grams of Protein.

I have a funny- I live alone and so don't fill up the dishwasher very quickly. And even slower now. But I keep running out of spoons and cups! :)

I was sleeved June 30 and started my full liquid diet on Friday. All went week Friday through yesterday then BAM, all the sudden nothing tastes the same and I want to gag at each sip of Protein Shake or Soup. Ughhh! Anyone else's tastes change suddenly?

It did for me too but eventually when I got off the liquid phase it came back so to speak. Nothing pleasant about drinking our meals.

I was sleeved on 6/25, on a liquid diet for 7 days and now on puréed until July 21st. I have started to push the envelope towards soft foods because I'm bored with the limited menu of blended items that I can actually stand. My doctor is on vacation, so I have to stay this phase an extra few days until I can see him. My stomach is tolerating everything pretty well but I don't want to cause any damage. Has anyone started the next phase without doctors or nutritionist's ok?

I can relate totally from my first week. I have been drinking the Protein Drinks for months in preparation for surgery and had no problems. Since surgery I have to force them down and have skipped the third one a few times because the thought made me gag. It's better now, but I am changing them by using coconut milk, muscle milk light and other new liquids. That really helps give them a different taste...

I get the urge to jump to the next phase. I struggle to stay in the soft solids phase, but I'd rather be safe than cause a complication with my pouch.

I tried to start early and wound up throwing up in the parking lot of Whole Foods. So I am sticking to the rules! :-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
