IM three days post op and I came home yesterday. I did pretty well while in the hospital, I was in high spirits and walked my ass off. Only time I really hurt was getting up out of bed or getting out of a chair, that's when your ab muscles come into play and man does it hurt!

I'm sleeping okay. Slept in my bed last night, I couldn't wait to actually sleep in my own since the hospital. I couldn't turn or really move because I was sleeping on my back and it hurt too much to turn. I tried having pillow support if I did try and turn on my side, it wasn't enough and too much discomfort. It's difficult because I'm a stomach sleeper, I feel like it's going to be tough no matter what. After walking around some this morning, I was watching something on TV and a funny part came on and I laughed. NOT GOOD. It hurt so incredibly bad, I immediately started to tear up and tried controlling my breathing. I took some liquid oxycodone. Other than that, my experience so far with the sleeve has been exceptionally good. I'm extremely proud of myself and other Sleevers for doing this because it is NOT easy. Keep up the good work everyone.

Be proud of yourself and one another :)

Yeah, it hurts. I am five days post-op and am still taking the liquid oxycodone - not quite as religiously as when I first came home from the hospital, but I make sure I get some regularly, if not always on time. I have been experimenting with laying on my side, one or the other, but it isn't working. I sleep flat out on my back and that is all that works. Maybe tonight I will be able to curl up on my side.

I'm not taking full showers yet, so my husband took me over to a shop and I got my hair washed. It was great, got a wash, comb-out and blow dry and it was only $3. Totally worth not having to figure out how to keep my incisions dry!!!

The large incision is the only one that has ever hurt, but that is the one that burns like wild fire when I try to roll out of bed. I've found myself lying in bed for a half-hour or more trying to work up the courage. Each time it hurts, I tell myself, "That is the last time it is going to hurt that bad because I am healing so fast.". My Occupational Therapist daughter called and explained carefully how to do the 'Log Roll' to get out of bed. I think I was doing it right, but it still hurts at that one point between the bed and the floor.

Is anybody else cold? I'm freezing and can't seem to get warmed up! I'm certainly not used to being cold.

I can definitely take a full shower..washing hair and everything. My incisions are glued so I could take a shower. You'll be able to take one soon and you will love every second of it and won't want to get out haha!

I'm definitely cold. I'm super cold after naps and just throughout the day I get freezing. You're not the only one ;) might be from the oxy

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
