Looking for some buddies in Chicago!

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I am going to get sleeved in April at Little Company of Mary and I really need some friends that are going through/have gone through the surgery and want to meet for activities, exercise, and companionship! I just moved to Chicago in June and I have a lot of family here, but none of them have significant weight issues, therefore they can't relate to my decision and lifestyle changes. I want to be successful and I know a big part of my success lies in the company I keep! Please message me and let's get to know each other and support each other in this magnificent journey! :)

Hi! I had my sleeve at LCOM on July 29, 2013! You are in the best of hands!! My husband also had gastric bypass in September 2013. Have you been to the support group meetings? I usually attend every month. I live in tinley park. If you have any questions or want info, I would be happy to help you out!

@@m&m4ever you look fabulous!!! Congrats to you! I have a question... i recently decided to have the lap band surgery, how long after the surgery did you see results? Also, what have you done different to keep the weight off?

Thank you so much! I was losing weight pretty fast in the beginning, so the results were fast. I've had some stalls, but just kept plugging along and they broke. I follow my doctors plan religiously and I exercise 5 days a week. I don't eat bread or Pasta. I do eat some carbs because I have hypoglycemia, but try to keep them complex or fruit. It has been an interesting journey and I'm so happy I decided to do this!

@m&m4ever...you look amazing! What an inspiration! Yes I attended this month's group for the first time and I got great insight into people's experiences. I plan on attending next month's as well! What do you do for aftercare so that you stay on track?

Thank you! I follow the diet plan and exercise 5 days a week. My relationship with food is totally different now. It was like a drug to me before and now it's just food!

I was there! I was sitting next to Tony on the right. I love the meetings. I try to go every month. Let me know if you want to meet up or we can talk at the next meeting.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
