Where are all the Canadians ?

Recommended Posts

I'm new to the forum! I'm a mainlander (Halifax) transplanted in St. John's Newfoundland. My referral was sent in January 2, 2015 (so just this past Friday), but the process is underway! I noticed most people are either in Ontario or in Alberta, and it seems that the weight times are pretty good there! The wait time in NL is upwards of 5 years.. which is disheartening, but at least I'm "in the system" now, as they say!

Welcome MissKayNL. 5 years is a hell of a long wait, I feel for you. But yes, you're in the system and that's great. I have to remember that the surgery is truly and simply "a tool" not a cure. It will assist in putting those lifestyle changes in place. So knowing that, you can start now perhaps. More Water, cut down on pop, coffee and sweets. After surgery, sweets and fats won't be digested easily and some people get quite ill.

Anyway, just a thought. But I know it can't be easy. Be patient, you'll get there.

Ruth

@@Ivanova8 - Thanks! The reality is, I'm lucky that the province is going to cover the surgery at all, so I'm just thankful for that. I don't mind the wait, even though I'd do it tomorrow if I could!

@@freshair I'm sorry you didn't get the answers you wanted. You can always call them and request a session with whomever it is you want to see. They are so helpful there. I bet they would get you in as soon as they can. Don't forget the support group met last night and it'll meet again on the 21st.

@@cab127 I'm sorry I thought you were on Jan 9th. I think I've lost 8lbs. Like you I've also enjoyed my Opti-fast. But I will be happy to move on to the next stage. It's hard cooking for my hubby and not eating any of it. But it's all going to be worth it I'm sure.

I wanted to go to the support group last night but i couldn't hang out for 4 hours @@Ivanova8 i got my appointments for the next 3 years in the mail today and the next appointment is personal they detail the group ones and the personal sessions. They were taking questions and you could stick around after and ask questions but everyone was staying to ask questions! I just felt that for being one month it's when it's toughest and when we have most questions so would've been nice to get more of a one on one session

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
