Anyone having the sleeve in april?!

Recommended Posts

Good morning all!! Hope everyone is doing well today! I am ONE week post op and doing pretty good. I spent 2 nights in the hospital (was only going to be one but nausea and an episode of vomiting landed me a second night) and came back to work yesterday ( I have a desk job ). I am still sore/tender around incision sights and would have taken a few more days off if not for a small office with vacations to cover but I am doing well. I did a 2 week pre-op diet and combined with post op weight loss have ditched 28.6 pounds thus far. I LOVE Unjury chicken Soup and Premier Protein in chocolate and find low sodium chicken broth to be my favorite Fluid - it's like a treat to me right now! I find it easy just to focus one day at a time. Good luck to all this month!!! I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!

glad your doing well ladybug, hopefully your chair is nice and cushioned if not try getting you a pillow for your chair, you can also use it when your driving home to put in front of your tummy before putting your seat belt on....take it easy..what hospital were you sleeved at

Hi all,

I've officially started my pre-op. It's not too bad, although the shakes don't hold me over that long. Thank goodness for Crystal light :-) I'm ready to move forward in the process and get things going. Although my surgery is scheduled for 4/21 I still haven't received a green light from insurance. Apparently they need more info. Of course they do... But I'm really confident this is going all work out. Again, so glad I'm not alone in this process and see that a lot of us have hit a few speed bumps but have made out ok.

started my preop diet today- and was so sick =[. what does everyone think about freezing the shakes into popsicles to make them more enjoyable. same thing with Isopure after surgery. i know for me right now its a struggle to even get 30 oz of Water and 1 shake down. i also feel insanely on edge.. like cranky or snappy as well as very out of it and spacey =[. what is everyone going through and feeling during preop?? all my diet consists on is Bariatric Advantage Protein powder yogurt - fatfree broth and Clear liquids.

any recommendations on how to consume this powder? ?

I threw a few boxes of the ready made EAS Advani EDGE Protein in the freezer about a month ago and thought I was on to something. Admittedly, at the time my freezer seemed to be on the way out and wasn't getting very cold, so the shakes wouldn't freeze but became kinda slushy. It was pure heaven. Then the freezer started working again and they froze solid. Lets just say when they defrosted enough to drink as a shake, the flavor and texture was NASTY. Hard to describe but like Jello with Knox Gelatin mixed in. Now i know why it says do not freeze on the container! Not sure how Protein Shakes would do as popsicles. I would wonder if the protein would break down over time when exposed to extreme hot or cold.

While my surgery isn't until 4/16, I have found the ready made shakes to be the easiest way to ingest a lot of protein in a small amount of liquid. My favorite (at the moment) is the vanilla and chocolate premiere protein ready made shakes from costco. 30 grams of protein per 11 ounces. I also add a scoop of unflavored Unjury protein to my crystal light or mio beverage.

I can only tolerate the power Proteins if blended with ice. Problem is, Ice creates even more liquid to drink down and the blender is a no no after surgery as it creates air. Not a real big Blender Bottle fan here!

im on day 2 of my preop ive lost 4.6lbs since yesterday morning by only having 3 shakes a day and 80 ounces of Water. im starving and my head is killing me. i never imagined my head would be pounding this bad. im going through all the worst possible cravings and being a nanny and having to prepare dinner for kids doesn't help the slightest. i feel so grouchy and irritable. whenever i try to work out i get really light headed and i dont know why. =[ i find myself doubting my decision bc i am so hungry. anyone going through things like this?

You need to be eating more! I would suggest every three hours you have a shake. Dehydration is probably the issue. Carbohydrates are also brain food, so eliminating may be contributing to the headache as well. I have been doing a liquid diet for three days now and I'm not really hungry. I have 3 shakes during the day,and a bowl of trader joes Soup at dinner. I also add unflavored Protein to my crystal light and sip it all day.

I think you need more calories. Sounds like your getting enough Fluid. Remember your using the same amount of energy but eating way less. I would try adding one more shake in there and see how you feel. Do you have a NUT you can contact?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
