What does gallbladder attack feel like?

Recommended Posts

I'm still pre-op. Yesterday I started getting a sharp pain in my abdomen. It got worse as the night went on. I didn't have diarrhea or vomiting although a couple of times I felt like I could have thrown up.

The pain in still there. Not as bad. I'm scared to eat. I googled the symptoms and it keeps bringing up gallbladder attack. Anyone experience one?

i have. It's a bad heartburn pain. You can also have pain in your back and shoulders. Mine was so bad I couldn't eat or sleep. I went to the ER and after an ultrasound found gallstones. I had my GB removed and things have been great since!!

For me it was intense pain that felt like bad acid or gas times 50, also it radiated to my back. I had it happen several times over a few months, at first they would go away in a few hours, and the last one that sent me to the er lasted for about 12 hours. They found gall stones and just took that baby out the next day.

Thanks for your replies. My pain doesn't seem similar. I'm going to urgent care to have it looked at.

Mine was never acid or gas like. It was just aching burning pain in my side and back. I thought the first few were backaches and then had a other series of attacks after some kidney stones so thought it was related to that.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
