If you're nor getting in enough liquids, will it hinder your weight loss?

I'm at a stall. Even gained 1-1/2 lbs but I can't get in all my liquids. Like barely even 1/2.

Absolutely.your body is already in starvation mode from RNY. If you're not getting enough liquids you're also dehydrated. That means your body will pull moisture out of anywhere it can. From muscles, causing lack of energy. From your bowels, causing Constipation. Liquids between meals also helps keep you feeling full. The MOST IMPORTANT things post op are Protein and liquids. You're success in this process depends on them. How are you not getting enough? By that I mean what's holding you back? Does it hurt to drink? Do you not have enough time between meals to get it in? Maybe we can offer some suggestions to help you out.

I totally agree with every word pookybear said. Great advice!

I struggled with getting enough liquid in myself. Many doctors (including my surgeon) advise their patients to be sure to count things like shakes, coffee, tea, Crystal Light - most liquids other than alcohol - in their daily liquid intake. coffee and shakes helped me enormously followed closely by my latest discovery of Nestle, PureLife Splash. This stuff comes in a bunch of different flavors with Acai Grape and berry being my personal favorites. And they're zero everything - calories, sugar, carbs, fat, Protein. Essentially they are just flavored Water with 25mg of salt. They come in 17 oz. bottles and I have them all over the house - office, family room, bedroom, bathroom - you name it. I sip on them all day long. Really helps!!

I honestly have never had a problem with getting liquids in, other than the first couple weeks. Even then it was mainly because of the taste and temperature of the Water. Once I found some flavor drops that I liked, and discovered it was much easier to drink at room temperature, I had no more problems.

The liquid just seems to sit heavy in my pouch and makes me nauseous. Water has a bitter taste now but I've been making lemonade with Splenda the last couple days and it's a little better. Today I got 41oz total so it's better than a couple days ago.

Have you tried changing the temperature of the Water? I felt the same way until I tried warmer Water. Try other things as well. Tea, milk, broth, etc. Flavor drops help a lot too. Small sips taken frequently works best.

PS...good job on increasing! A little more each day will get you there. When was your surgery?

One month ago today. February 5th...

Thank you for the suggestions. I found that coffee went down fine this morning. I was allowed coffee after my second week but even being the coffeeholic I am, I had no interest in it but today it went down well. Thanks guys.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
