Hello everyone I am happy to say that I got my band remove a week and a half ago. The recovery has been wonderfu.l I went into surgery at 830 in the morning they gave me the sedation I must have gone into the surgery I guess about a quarter of nine by 10 o'clock I was in the recovery room and fully awake he gave me something for pain and nausea I never threw up. By 1130 I was in my room. By 2 o'clock I wanted to go home but I hadn't urinating yet because my bladder was still asleep from the anesthesia. by 430 thank God I had urinated and I was on my way home with very little pain and a little sore. I had walked all the halls of the hospital with very little help from my husband and I felt great I was so happy. I took one tylenol with codeine at the hospital and that night I only took two extra strength tylenol at home. The next day I felt more soreness like if I had done 100 sit ups and some waist exercises, than pain. The next day I had the pain of the coughing from the anesthesia so I took 2 tylenol again and that was pretty much it. The day that I had the most pain was one day that I had a coughing attack and I didn't have the little pillow that I would put in my stomach when I cough because I was in the kitchen getting some Water and that day I took one tylenol with codeine but it was because I was caught off guard. The surgery has been the best decision I've ever made in my life I could drink and chug water with no throwing up I am eating little meals few times during the day I have actually lost 2 pounds because I'm eating frequently and small portion with the lapband I could barely eat and my body was in starvation mode so again guys best decision I've ever made. Just remember small portions I was adapted to barely eating so my stomach is reduced I don't plan to ever get it large again because I've been through hell so good luck if anyone has any questions just ask away.

Yay!

Im glad it was what you wanted and that it went smoothly for you.

Thank you for reporting back to let us know how you're doing!

I really like that people here support each other through whatever comes up.

Support for having the band put IN....and then equal support if it ever has to come OUT.

Im so glad you have gotten some relief at long last!

I have had a lapband removal just last week. My surgeon left the whole oped from where the lapband was removed. It is rather painful and I have to remove the old packing of the whole and insert new medicine packing and then patch it up every day. My follow visit from the surgery was a horrendous one as I had no idea that my doctor was going to remove the gauze and the packing from the hole in my stomach and then stick his finger deep in the hole. I screamed to the top of my lungs. The doctor leaves the hole for drainage purposes so that there is no drainage inside the stomach and the blood stream. It is taking a while for the hole to close up and I am getting very frustrated with the healing process. Has anyone had this experience? I havr read about the band removals and the after experiences but they all seem to be the same and totally different from my experience. Scary.

@@reinventingme63 I'm so sorry, I just saw this today. My band removal went without a hitch and I was back up on my feet within a week or so... are you healing or healed now? I've heard of all sorts of reasons for people to have their bands removed, but not issues with the wounds not closing. I can't believe your doc was so callous to just stick his finger in there, ouch!

Are you going to have a revision? All of my best thoughts and prayers to you...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
