From a BMI perspective I would say yes. Just know that the sleeve is not a miracle in that you still have to work to lose the weight. So the real question is are you a candidate from the perspective of are YOU ready to put in the work.

Most definitely I normally don't have a problem losing weight it's keeping it off but I'm willing to commit to a lifestyle change to live a more happier and healthier life

Then I would say you are ready. The sleeve can be a wonderful thing. I was like you in that I would lose weight and fast but would always just gain it back. For me the sleeve has allowed me to lose more than I ever did on my own as well as maintain the lose.

It is a bumpy road non the less. Good luck to you and welcome to the forum!

I spent a lot of time evaluating my prior weight loss attempts to ensure that I really had tried everything else and that I was ready to make the permanent lifestyle changes needed to be successful with the gastric sleeve. I realized that some of my prior attempts were half hearted, and in 2012 I gave it my 100% effort; after a low carb diet I had to have gall bladder surgery due to the GB stones getting stuck in the neck of my gall bladder, and then I tried Medifast and had an allergic reaction to the soy in the Meal Replacements. After those issues I knew that I was serious about weight loss and had really tried everything - so I was comfortable moving forward with surgery. Now 9 months post surgery I have lost 100 pounds and am very happy with my sleeve. I know this was the right decision for me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
