Day 10-why do I feel so hungry and lightheaded?

Recommended Posts

Day 10 of the liquid diet. I have felt real good and have basically not really been hungry until today. I have had a Protein Shake and some blended thin Soup with added Protein and I feel like I could eat a horse right now. Any suggestions?

Had that happen too. Call your doctor, let them know, and see what their options are. My doctor allows you to substitute in 3 ounces of lean meat for one Protein Shake if you really need it. Doesn't sound like much but it makes a huge difference in how you feel.

Are you on an acid med? You really need to be if not. It mimics hunger and will tear you up in the head :)

My Dr said I don't need acid meds. I asked Monday when I went to get my drain out. Is it ok to just go buy some over the counter? Prevacid??

I would. It helps me tremendously. I can't believe they didn't give you a prescription! If your insurance will pay for it I'd call the dr office back and request it.

My doc had us on Omeprazole 40mg daily mandatory 2 months. Even with that I would feel "hungry" early on and liquid Maalox helped. I'm two weeks past the recommended two months of Omeprazole, but I'm still taking the OTC 20mg Prilosec to "wean" myself off the PPI. Prilosec, Zantac, Prevacid, Maalox, Rolaids, etc, could all potentially help with your "hunger pains". As for the lightheaded ness, are you getting enough fluids? I was super lightheaded and dizzy when I was getting dehydrated.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
