I am very surprised about how many of you had drains or came home with drains. I didn't have a drain and when I did my research there really wasn't a lot of information on the drains. And to the lovely ladies on her did you experience nipple soreness. Mine are crazy sore. I must be loosing the weight in my breast. Lol sorry for the TMI.

LOL, Sorry to hear about your nipples!!! My doc never said anything to me about going home with a drain either, and believe me tells me everything that is going to happen cause I ask a million questions. So all this is a surprise to me? My surgery is 3/19 so I don't know what it's going to feel like, but when did you have your surgery, and let me ask you this after your surgery how long did it take for you to notice that you were loosing weight?

My drain was removed right before departing from the hospital...talk about a STRANGE sensation. Feeling that thing come out was not painful, at all. But feeling that thing come through your body was WIERD!!!

I had a drain tube after RNY. It wasn't removed until right now before I left the hospital. The hole was just covered with a bandage. It's very much a weird sensation with about 8inches of tubing being removed. Not painful just weird.

I think ppl that had sleeve get drain tubes. Bypass patients dont seem to have drains

In my case, that is incorrect. I had bypass, and had a drain.

I had the gastric bypass and had a drain from each side. I was also surprised as it was never mentioned in all the pre-op information. Agree, it felt really weird coming out!

I had RNY and I came home with a drain for 2 weeks.

Like others said, it didn't hurt coming out. It was just a weird sensation.

I know I'm going to have a drain but I can't for the life of me remember if anyone at my surgeons office actually told me that. I've had 3 friends that had the surgery with the same surgical group and they had them.

At first I was annoyed at the thought of it but then it was explained to me that if you have a leak you can get very sick if you don't know it. If you start getting weird stuff in your drain they may put you back in the hospital for a few day and not let you eat but it will probably heal on its own. So I'll take the drain I guess.

Yep, I had to drink blue Powerade for the 2 weeks I had it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
