I am also 3 weeks post op. I had 1 scrambled egg w/ some salsa for dinner recently and it took me about 20 minutes to eat. I couldn't quite get throuh the whole thing. My NUT suggests making each meal last about 20 minutes to ensure you are going slow enough but not to stretch it out past 30 because then you can start taking in too much at one sitting.

Humanmerelybeing,

My NUT won't let me have salsa yet, no acidic food until after mechanical soft phase, are you eating Sosa & have you had any trouble with it?

Eat for no more than 30 minutes. At the end of 30 minutes--you are done. The amount you can eat varies from person to person and day to day, but giving yourself no more than 30 minutes prevents grazing. I am 10 weeks out and can never eat more than 1 egg at a time.

im more than 3 months out and i still only eat one egg with a little shredded cheese on top. i can eat more of certain things, depending on how dense the food is. i usually dont go past the 20 to 25 minute mark when eating.

Zoumommy - I wasn't warned away from salsa and didn't have any trouble with about 1 TBLS with the egg. You are right though, it is an acidic food, so maybe there is reason to wait a bit longer.

Start with one egg and you will find you do not want another. My big husband and I both eat either 1 boiled egg or 1 scrambled. We are 3 months post op and have both regularly eaten spicy food including salsa and have no problem whatsoever. We started slowly with the spicy. We also take Prilosec daily.

Humanmerelybeing,

Yep, spoke to my NUT today to find out how much of an egg is ok to eat, she said 1/2cup cooked, not sure if this is a whole egg or not. Anyway, her and my surgeon's recommendation for their patients is no acidic foods until the soft food phase, which comes after mechanical soft. My surgeon is very anal/OCD and very conservative in her approach with patients, so that is probably why no salsa for me :( but it sounds really yummy :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
