Not losing weight

Recommended Posts

Have you talked with your doctor's office or dietician?

Another question, have you been exercising a lot? How many calories are you getting per day? are you writing down your food intake?

Definitely call your NUT/Dietician and see if they can sit down with you to sort out what's going on!

I don't have a NUT. I talked with my doctor and he says give it more time. I have a low BMI. I weigh 171. I am not working out because I feel weak and tired. I am just starting to have a little bit more energy. I write things down most days. I have been getting between 500- 650 calories a day. My Water is good and my Protein is about 50 per day.

Some people experience a stall at 3 weeks while their body adjusts to the trauma it has encountered during surgery. This may be happening to you. Also, your low BMI means you will lose more slowly, but if you stick with the program, you will lose eventually. Eat Protein, avoid carbs, drink your Water and wait. I'd also recommend getting a nutritionist to work with you. You need to be better supported in this journey. Best of luck!

I'm 7 wks out and stopped losing at 20 lbs. I'm getting nervous too! I've been the same weight for 2 wks. I just increased my exercise and changed some of the foods I was eating so hopefully that helps. My dr told me I be patient but it is hard lol. I started at 205 and am at 185. So my BMI was on the lower side as well at 38. I'm a picky eater so I'm working in changing my Taste for new foods and vegetables. Good luck!

One of the sleeve members(butterthebean) had this link on his signature line and I always suggest new patients read it because it's so true:

The stalls are miserable and it's super hard to be patient. I feel like I am stalled more often than not. Hang in there. Work the program. The scale will move...eventually.

Thank you everyone for your help. I need to start getting in more physical activity. The nausea is starting to go away. I am so discouraged because there has been no weightloss but only those first four days.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
