Band to Sleeve Revision Concerns with Pregnancy

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I had my band done in June 2010. I did well for the first 2 years lost 85lbs. All of a sudden I started having problems with my band, not being able to keep food down, not able to get the nutrients I needed. My doctor ended up taking out most of my fill and I was fine for a while. I started gaining my weight back slowly but surely. Currently I have gained most of my weight back. I have been miserable with my band not being able to find my "sweet spot", fluctuation of my weight, and not able to keep my food down.

I am meeting with my doctor next Friday to discuss having a revision done to the sleeve. my main concern now is I dont want to make a wrong decision with the revision.

I'm newly married and my husband and I also want to start a family someday.

Im worried about those future pregnancies and how the sleeve will effect my baby.

Any advice or experiences are appreciated. Thank you!

My surgeon recommended that patients wait 1 year before getting pregnant. I think this is valid advice seeing that it would be hard to focus on weight loss and pregnancy at the same time. I know several people have had successful pregnancies post sleeve surgery. I think it would be a good idea to speak with your OB/Gyn before you make any final decision.

I am currently entering my 3rd trimester. This is my 3rd baby 1st post sleeve. There have been challenges but the baby is healthy and so am I as long as you work with your doctors both surgeon and OB everything should be fine. Please wait the recommended 12-18months... I had a BC failure way too soon and have had way more problems because of that. I also know quite a few moms who waited the right amount of time and had zero complications. GL :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
