Is anyone else having their surgery on this day? I go to my class tomorrow and also start the pre op diet tomorrow! I am so not looking forward to this part of it! I'm gonna be so hungry! Ugh!

U only have about two weeks on your preop diet. Time will fly by. Just keep yourself busy so that your mind can be elsewhere other than food. Congrats on getting a date for your surgery.

March 3rd is my date too! I started my prep diet today and it's been a struggle, but I feel better! Because I have to stick to this diet I am not focusing on "what my last meal" will be! Two weeks will go by so quickly for us! Where are you getting your surgery? I am in San Diego.

Hi takefeline! I start it tomorrow and I am not looking forward to it at all. But you are right. The time will probably go by fast. I haven't got my diet yet so I don't know what I can and can't have! What's yours consist of?

I am in IL

Did you find out anything more about your diet? Mine is 3 Protein Shakes and one healthy meal. So not too bad! But today I worked a 12 hour shift (I'm a nurse) and I was starving by 5 pm! I didn't bring enough food with me and thank goodness a coworker had some extra fresh carrots and peppers. Saved the day! Is your diet pretty similar? Tomorrow I have a preop class for four hours. I meet with the dietician, surgeon, and go over paperwork for the surgery. One more day down! :)

I have surgery on March 3rd as well!!! I started my pre-op diet today of high Protein and low carb. At least I don't have to do it for a full 2 weeks. I can't help but feel panicked at this point because I know how hungry and crabby I'm going to be for the next few days!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
