Hi everyone,

I have my surgery booked for April 27, 07. I'll start my fast on April13, the day I host a coffee morning. Luckily for me my coffee friends are all supportive and will help me along the way. We've been meeting for 18 years.

My husband is on board as well and jokes about getting the surgery money back from the money we'll save on food.

I started gaining weight after a car accident that prevented me from exercising alot. Now I think I'll join a gym and just DO IT.

Thankyou everyone. The support on this site is so great. I feel like I'm in a new club, which I guess I am or will be after April 27. I'm not worried about the operation but I'm a little worried about flying home from Ontario after 26 hours post op. It's only a 2 hour flight so I guess I can stand it, I hope. I'm also a little nervous about making meals for the rest of the family from then on. You have to eat and drink so often it seems like that's all you do for a while.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
