do you need to buy new shoes ?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if any of you out there that have lost alot of weight, have had to buy new/smaller size shoes?

I have only lost 41 lbs(+10 prior to surgery-so 51 total) but I think that my Fat flinstone feet are shrinking!!

How 'bout you??

When I lost 50+ pounds before...my "wide" feet were no longer "wide", but the length didn't change :)

Anyway....just think...this opens up a whole new dimension of shoes for you to explore!!! fun fun fun!!!!

it just seems funny, I guess that losing a shoe size never crossed my mind, when I thought about losing weight, or being "skinny/thinner"...

I have been buying new shoes! I started out between a 8 1/2 and 9, depending on the brand and type of shoe. And they were always wide width. This weekend I bought size 8's MEDIUM! I was ecstatic! I figured the width would go down but hadn't given any thought to the length. I'm always looking for an excuse to shop...what a nice one!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
