Mother @*#er!

Recommended Posts

My mom is so crazy.... She keeps telling me "what if you die?" And then today calls me at work just to tell me that her friend told her of her friend who died on the operating table having surgery.... Then proceeds to say, "if you die I will kill myself and haunt you!" Really? Dramatic much?

Well it pissed me off so much that I hung up and just started bawling. I cried cause she frustrates me, I cried cause does she think that I have not thought about death and dying? I'm scared Shitless to do this!!! I don't need her being an asshole and making it worse!

The end

I'd ask her, "what if I died from obesity related issues?" What if... What if... So sorry you are having to deal with that. This is such an emotional process it's like uh do you really think that I haven't already thought of that!? Ugh you will do great!

It seems like every time someone mentions wls there is always someone's friend of a friend's uncle's cousin's neice's neighbor that died from it. Or gained their weight back. But seriously, it's just a story. Sure there are risks, but the comorbidities that are weight related will be what really kills you. Shame on your mother. I'm certain she has a legitimate fear or she wouldn't be acting out, but what an immature way to do it. If she didn't love you, she wouldn't care. So try to only take that into consideration and sit down and talk to her about it when you're both cooled off.

My mom literally drove me nuts. Nuts. There were days I loved her and days I wanted to find a sinkhole and bury her. All in all, I wish she were still here to drive me nuts and make me wanna strangle her. Lol

Everything will work out, hang in there.

Oh my mom was convinced I'd die. She asked if I had made 'arrangements,' said said she should probably be there as a my medical guardian.

It's been about 6 weeks since my surgery. I felt look poo for a couple days, then recovered fast. I feel GREAT. I can eat anything in small portions. I haven't found anything that doesn't sit well with me.

AHAHAHAHAHA! That's so funny that you guys have mothers that say the same crap.

I hope I have a smooth transition like you did!

Sorry, I have in-laws like this. You can't reason with it, all you can do is distance yourself from it. My wife finally told her mother that if she insisted on talking like this, she could no longer talk with her.

I had two friends concerned with me dying. I explained to them the very low mortality rate and that I appreciated their concerns. Now, 100 pounds lighter those same two friends lavish me with compliments every time I see them. Overall I couldn't care less what people think. I did this for me and me alone.

Your mom surely, in my opinion, over reacted. However, as a mom of young adult children, I can see that SHE is scared too. You're her daughter, her baby. She's scared bc she's not as educated about the surgery as you are. She didn't say the right things.... She said the wrong things in a dramatic way.... But, she loves her girl and is scared!

I know. And that's why I'm not seething with rage right now lol!! I would be sated if my daughter was going in for surgery. I just would never try to scare her even more than she must already be.

Thank you all for listening!

Omg I went through this with my own mom. First thing out of her mouth was oh please don't you'll die. And that's how it went every conversation till i told her until she's carried my weight to shut the f up. I'd be dead before fifty remaining this way so what's the diff? She's more supportive now after I've done it and loves to hear of any loss. Don't sweat it she'll get over it. ESP after she sees results.

My boyfriend was sure I was going to die. I love it when he is wrong. Fair play though. I would be terrified if my daughter were on an operating table.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
