Anyone else had to do 'The Weigh Ahead Programme' ?

Recommended Posts

Hmmm mine was pretty simple I had 1 group meeting at the hospital talking about all the surgery options food how it will be after etc Then a few pre op appointments 1 with the shrink that’s all I needed they told me I had no issues I would need to work out so no need to book any more with them. Did the health tests blood work discussed what surgery I wanted. That was it waited for my date and done.

Wow

Wish it was that easy here. No such luck. With what I've read on here seems that some health authorities are putting more and more obstacles in the way. Also in our area you have to have a minimum bmi of 50. I really envy you. Also we had to complete the whole programme, even if we had no issues, and hit all of our targets. Without reaching our goals we could not progress. I don't really mind all that I've been through, because I'm committed, but I do mind the delay. It's causing upset and stress. I so need to move on.

Sounds as though you're post op Sassy. How much by?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
