Last week before pre op diet

Recommended Posts

Set a date for my surgery : March 3rd (yay!!!!) meaning my pre op diet starts on the 17th! How much trouble do you think I would get into with my doctor if I wanted to have some "food funerals" this week before I start my diet? I feel guilty :/

I had them and I'm glad I did. You're gonna read from ppl who had them and those who will say "don't do it Bc you will be able to eat your favorite foods in small quantities again". I plan to NOT eat those foods again. Ever. So I had mine, am on my pre-op diet and doing great.

Same I'm happy I had them. I didn't eat more than before I decided to go on this journey, but just ate crap foods at meal times. I actually didn't gain any weight in the month between setting my date and my pre op appointment. Bt yeah. The foods I ate got me to where I am, so I don't plan on eating them after, even in small portions.

I had last meals before the pre-op diet. Not a ton cuz I didn't want to feel like crap but a few to get it out of my system. I probably won't eat them ever again. It seems like part of the process. I think some people advise not to have a last meal during the pre-op diet. That way surgery is as safe as it can be with a shrunken liver. :)

Yeah. Once the pre-op diet starts you should not have any food funerals

Hello All,

Is it normal to be nervous about the 2 week liquid pre-op diet? My surgery is scheduled for March 3, 2014. My doctor advised I can only have 800 calories a day while i'm on the diet. I am so nervous!! Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

I was more excited than nervous Bc I knew this was leading up to the new me. Also, if I'm not compliant with a 2 week diet, how can I be compliant with an entire lifestyle change? You can do this. Sure, it sucks. It's no fun. But it is doable.

My surgery date is March 5th so I start my pre-op diet on the 19th. My anniversary is today and my birthday is the 18th so I will be having at least 2 "food funerals" just from special occasion eating. I'm going to do my best to limit it to those 2 days because I don't want to make things more difficult for myself after surgery; however, I'm definitely doing to eat what I want at very nice restaurants on both of those days.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
