Frustrated with weightloss

Recommended Posts

Lost 17lbs in December. Had my first fill on January 13th. Have only lost 6lbs since then. Can't see the doc til march 3rd for my next fill. Worried about going on vacation next week. Just down and I know I shouldn't be. Going to support group tomorrow for some encouragement.

Wow! 17 pounds in a month is awesome! 6 in a month is great! When was the last time you lost 23 pounds in 60 days? Uh huh, YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY! Not every month will be what you want, but as long as the scale is moving in the right direction, you are winning! Chin up! Your are more awesome than you give yourself credit for!

The first few months after surgery are the toughest of all IMO....so much to learn, and even harder to learn when the band is not doing anything yet....you just go through the motions with pure will power....

It does get better....just takes a little time..until then...

You are doing great.. wish I could lose 6 lbs in a month.. You should be very motivated. I have had months with only 2 lbs loss . As you get closer to your goal you will slow down. Just keep doing whatever you are doing cause it's working...

Sounds like you are well on track to me. Perhaps your expectations are a little high? They say on average to expect 1-2lb a week loss with a properly adjusted band. Remember that is an average and differs for different people. Most likely you will need adjustments and time before you reach the optimum level.

Patience and determination come into play right now and it will get better in time but honestly you're doing great from the sounds of it.

My surgeon told me that until your band is filled optimally, it's just another diet, and if you're losing before you get restriction, that it's due to what you're doing, and not so much the band. So give yourself some credit. It'll all fall into place as you get more fills and restriction.

Cut yourself some slack...you had surgery and had a tool "installed" to HELP you...it is not going to be a magic fix!

My surgeon told me not to worry about ANY weight loss for the first 6 weeks it was all about healing properly and learning your new mechanics.

So to have the weight loss you have had is AWESOME....be happy and Celebrate it.

I always try to remember this, because I also want it ALL OFF NOW....I didnt get to be my starting weight over night and the weight loss IS NOT GOING TO COME OFF OVERNIGHT EITHER

Be happy, and be proud of yourself for helping yourself get to better health!

Have a great day!

As others have said, it sounds like you're doing great to me!! You've lost 23lbs in just 2 months...that's pretty amazing!

Don't let the scale dictate you! One thing that I had to do very early on was tell myself if I was going to weigh regularly, I couldn't be upset when the scale didn't say what I wanted it to! That's also when I decided to take it one pound at a time...meaning when the scale read 245, my next goal was to see 244, then 243, and so on... It made it so much easier to Celebrate and be proud of each pound (and even ounces) I lost!

Enjoy your vacation! You've got this!

Wow, that is a lot of weight....makes me feel like a huge loser (not in a good way). You have absolutely no reason to worry.

My biggest loss was at the beginning then I averaged out to 1 lb/week loss...it is frustrating at times, but 9 months down the road and 66 lbs lighter I'm SO GLAD I didn't give up. You can do this!

Thanks guys. Didn't think about it actually being 23lbs in 2 months. That is pretty good. Going to support group tonight. That should be good.

JennyBean you are not a loser (not the good kind). Get that out of your head.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
