Cooking with bread crumbs...

Recommended Posts

So I am on the soft food portion of the show. I am wanting to make some meatballs out of ground chicken. (Always trying new recipes so no one at the house gets bored!). All of the recipes I can find call for bread crumbs to hold it togther! Anyone have any ideas as to whether this is ok or is there an alternative???

I have had meatballs with no ill effects from the bread crumbs. I even ate chicken parmesan coated in bread crumbs.

I don't use bread crumbs because of the carbs and calories. I've used almond flour and that worked well. I've heard good things about minced cauliflower and mushrooms as well as grated hard cheese such as parmesan or romano.

Thanks guys! I used to make sausage balls with some bisquick but that worries me too! Think I will stick to the egg and some cheese since the meatballs call for them!

panko is lower in carbs...but with an egg, you don't really need the crumbs...

speaking of which, on Rachael yesterday they made a pizza dough with cauliflower and eggs!!! HELLO KITTY!!! YEAH!!! On my list of "try me's"

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
