My thermostat is broken

Recommended Posts

I'm about 7 weeks post op and lost about 25 lbs. I know the weather isn't helping this issue but I'm either burning up or freezing cold. I know when I was skinnier I was always cold. The weird part is more or less when I'm cold I mostly feel it in my legs and feet. I would say it's almost a burning cold.

Is this normal with weight loss this quickly? Should I go to my primary or back to my surgeon? I don't feel like there's anything majorly wrong just curious of your experiences.

I don't know but I am COLD ALL the time! My husband thinks it's hilarious. I've been wearing multiple layers of clothes and sometimes I even have to put my coat on and wear it around the house to keep warm

I used to always run hot. It was quite embarrassing. I have noticed since surgery that I get cold very easily too.

As you lose, you will get cold because you don't have much fat to keep you warm. But, that being said, it has been cold for Florida. The wet weather has not helped either. I have been running around with a sweater most of the time, too! :D

I was ALWAYS hot...even in the cold cold winter...NOT ANYMORE! :o

On the flip side, my hubby is hoping since my "temperature change" that the central air will not have to be so darn cold this summer in the house...LOL....time will tell!

And since its so cold, icy and snowy in NY I'm looking forward to testing it out! BRRRRRRRRRR

Go Back to your PC doctor have them chekc your Thyroid levels it's the Thermostat Regulator for our bodies, your level might be off due to weight loss?

Hope this helps.

Of course this winter has been much colder for much longer than normal anyway, but I am absolutely frozen to the core when I'm anywhere other than home! At work, at restaurants, in my vehicle, and most definitely outside! I'm not complaining (much) but at the same time I really hope my body gets used to the weight loss by next winter!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
