TLBC/Dr Joffe and Dr Yau (cross posted)

Recommended Posts

I had an appointment with Dr Yau today and on his behalf he asked me to post this for all Joffe/Yau/TLBC patients.

TLBC will be issuing an offical statement tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest, it is in the final stages of being approved.

As Kathy P. mentioned last week Dr Yau wanted me to confirm for all TLBC patients whether you were done in the clinic or prior to the clinic's existance as a Yau or Joffe patient you will continue to be seen by TLBC for any and all follow up including fills and complications. There will be no change in your care please continue to book fills etc in the same manner. Remember you are TLBC patients, not Dr Yau or Joffe patients in regards to your banding. Dr Yau and or additional surgeons (in the future) will be available if you need to consult them on anything.

Dr Joffe is still practicing medicine outside of banding and if you were/are a patient of his for other medical conditions he can still be reached in the normal way. Whether he continues to see banded patients for other issues (ie general surgery etc) is entirely up to Dr Joffe and he may choose to see you or not.

Dr Yau felt that Dr Joffe still strongly supports banding as a preferred form of weight loss surgery, and has no idea if he will be performing bandings in the future outside of the clinic or country.

I did not ask if Joffe was leaving for health reasons as I have read on another site since I didn't think it was information I should be privy too and I did not want to put Dr Yau in a position where he was uncomfortable. So I do not know if he is suffering from back issues or not.

If you are concerned at all Dr Yau asks that you call the clinic and address your concerns with them.

Dr Yau also mentioned the same as Kathy had earlier that they are in the process of having some exciting things happen at TLBC including webcasts, seminars, podcasts and additional surgeons.

Be confident that Kathy P has kept us very well up to date in the information that can be realeased and on track.

Thank you Kathy.

Heather

Thanks Susie. I hope this puts an end to any speculation and/or the rumour mill.

Thanks for the info. That's the info I received at the clinic last week. The care is still outstanding and I enjoyed the "talk" in the waiting area. Quite the boost this week for me - scales at clinic confirmed that I'm close to goal. I must admit I'm looking forward to vacation this week in Montreal - and clothes shopping.

I got my hair cut, styled and I'm booked for low tones - just something different.

Have a great week and HAPPY EASTER!

Thanks Yoda,

Yeah I can taste it. I've been yoyoing for the last couple weeks and I went for a defill - just .5 but it seems to be helping. I can eat a salad without pb. I need the extra so I can work out more. I think that's been the reason for my success - exercise - I love to eat but the more I exercise the more it burns off.

I know you'll love seeing everyone at the clinic. It was great talking to the gals (and the ones in the waiting room). Good luck Mr Yoda. You have a great teacher.

Have a great week. I hope to get to goal after Easter (no pressure but it sure would be nice to get there before June)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
