constipation Wow

Not to be gross but I am so constipated that I have to put on rubber gloves to help get stool out it is that hard and large. This results in bleeding. Taking stool softener but I don't think the gel caps are being digested and clearly they are not working. Any suggestions? Don't want to get impacted and need to have a doc get it out.

Clear liquid laxative by the other stuff in the pharmacy area at drugstore/Walmart. Stick close to home though. Then take miralax daily to keep this from happening again

Same thing happened to me last week. I had to manually remove (yuck) what I could then I used a child's enima (double yuck). All better now and I'm on Mirolax to help prevent it from happening again.

3 teaspoons milk of magnesium

Is it ok to take miralax everyday though? Where can I get that tea? Only two weeks out so worried this will get worse once I start eating food

Smooth Move tea can be found by the organics tea section. We have it at our local King Soopers. Take it at night & hopefully you can go the next morning.

I agree with others regarding Milk Of Magnesia too. I use the cherry flavor, not tasty but it'll do...

Once you start eating food it will get normal again..

You can take Miralax daily. I learned this when I had a colonoscopy.

i used prune juice and even ate some prunes as a back up. that was a big mistake BUT it worked..worked too well T_T

PROBIOTICS!! take em daily to help your digestive health...better than becoming laxative dependent

in addition to these suggestions make sure u are drinking lots of water. my ex got backed up really bad in college, so he'd drink a cup of hot water every morninf anda little before trying to poo. I hope you find something that works, Constipation is awful

Hi:

A teaspoon of mineral oil daily helps too, and it's way cheaper than Miralax and Probiotics.

Hope this problem resolves soon.

I am now on regular food and it is slowly getting better, so now I take a capful of Miralax every other day...not fun to be constipated! Try to keep up with the Miralax & fluids, my surgeon warned me against anything with senna in it as you become defendant on it, Miralax was his suggestion. Good luck!

I'm about 2 months out and have had severe constipation too for the past 3 weeks. I've tried Fiber one Cereal (the Low cal high fiber one) along with plum smart light, but that's not helped at all.

The only thing that's helped me is milk of magnesia which I continue to take every other day.

This needs to stop soon ....

I'd also do Miralax for a few days as it's very mild. I also bought a Squatty Potty a week or so post-op, and that's really helped. It's a stool that wraps around the front part of the toilet to give you a bit of extra leverage and improve bowel positioning for going, and it's been very helpful. Once I moved to real foods, constipation became less of an issue, and now I go several times a week again.
