Weird left side pain.... any one else

Recommended Posts

Ok so saw the office Tuesday for a check up and a fill. That all went normal down 6lbs on their scale so YEA me ;) ... however i asked them about a pain that i have been getting on my left side where i would imagine the Lapband is. it's not port related more internal... any way when i asked and explained the related symptoms and occurrences they told me it was all normal and nothing to worry about.

so being that it's "normal" have any of you had mild pain in your left Band area - accompanied with Gas and or the urge to use the bathroom? It can be quite uncomfortable but have noticed if i manage to burp the sensation will go away not completely but doesn't last too much longer and also if i have to use the bathroom :( .

I was told that gas is and will always be an issue with the lapband and i knew that. i guess i just had not translated that to pain.

so just kind of wondering if i'm alone with my weirdness :D

I can't tell from your description if it's the same as me but I sometimes find if I overeat, I feel a slight discomfort in that same area. Is it possible that you ate too much?

To me, the discomfort is such that I think I can feel my port inside by body. I don't mean that I can touch it but I 'feel' it or feel like I am aware it is there without touching anything. Is it similiar to this?

I have a weird pain, but it feels more like the tubing from the port and looking at diagrams, my feeling would fit the area the tube is around. I'm almost to my goal and have very little fat around my midsection anymore, I think the weightloss has it rubbing against something. I plan on getting it checked out soon, I have no other complications.

I do get some discomfort (I wouldn't call it pain) on my left side, occasionally. It almost feels like something is rubbing. It doesn't happen all the time, though, and it never lasts long. My doc also says it's normal.

I am almost a year and a half out from my lap band surgery and I still get this "pain" after eating a meal and it usually comes with some gas and bloating too. Nothing too major, just noticeable. If I eat much more than I should, the pain/gas/bloating can become painful and last up to 24 hours too. It's not "doubled over in pain", pain but enough to make me uncomfortable when sleeping at night. This is more my signal of when I am full verses the band telling me I've had enough.

Have my band for 1 year and have had some pain lower left below the port area. Overeating will make it worse. Sometimes passing a little gas helps. Was told normal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
