Gurgling stomach normal?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I felt a little naseuous this morning, slight tummy ache, but I think it was a need to 'go.' I took 30 ml of MoM earlier this morning & it helped.

I ate Breakfast (about 3 1/2 tablespoons of cream of wheat w/ 1 tablespoon of unflavored Protein powder) about 3 hours ago. No issues there.

I'm drinking my fluids & my stomach has been gurgling like crazy the last 1/2 hour. Am i hungry or is it telling me something else?

Does your stomach still gurgle? What does it mean? Good thing I'm working from home. Otherwise, my co-workers would think my stomach was attacking!

Feedback? Thank you!!!

PS - 12 days post-op

I've had my gurgling stomach wake me up from a nap! lol

Unless it's accompanied by discomfort or issues, it's normal and happens to lots of us. It doesn't necessarily mean hunger.

hehe, totally normal. It'll last for a few weeks yet. Mine only does it now when I've eaten something spicy and then it'll chug back into action. As if its saying 'Oi?! What's this?!'

Embrace the gurgling. Its just your body getting used to things. As above, if you're not in pain/discomfort/have a fever, its all good.

It was a great source of amusement for my partner and I in the early days. Now its stopped, I really kind of miss it!

For the 9 months, my stomach made noises like rocks in a garbage disposal every time I drank or ate. Now it only grumbles a bit on occasion. When I accidentally overeat, I still get the gurgling sensation as air bubbles move around the food in my stomach, but the bubbles were never painful.

I get a lot of gurgling, especially at bedtime after I've had my last drink of Water and some pills. :)

Mine sounds like a dragon fight. The worst was when I tried to eat cauliflower.

Mine reminded me of dinosaurs fighting in my tummy! Like there's have said, it would also wake me while I was sleeping. I was so worried it wouldn't go away before I had to start teaching, so my high school students would focus on the noises rather then what I said.

However, as I progressed through the food stages, the noises quieted down. I think once I was eating soft foods, it was very infrequent and barely audible.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Glad this "stomach talk" is normal :)

As long as you are not having pain, nausea, vomiting, or excessive bloating, bowel sounds aren't unusual.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
