Uneven skin...ugh!

Recommended Posts

My biggest scare about RNY was skin! I thought I'm young shouldn't be too bad right? Wrong!

I have the biggest apron ever! And if it wasn't bad enough..... It's so uneven and it's noticeable (to me of course I guess I hide it well) Grant it was gigantic at a HW of 389lbs. And to think I could ever really get rid of this was unrealistic.

Don't get me wrong, I would have the surgery again in a heart beat! But this is something I should braced myself for better :/ I wear spanks and other brands of "holder inners" but every day I see "it" and cringe. Anyone out there with me?

Most insurances pay for the removal of the abdomen skin, I think you have to be 1 yr past your surgery. Insurances may differ but your MD should know how to write insurance request. Check with the MD office.

I'm with you!! I set unrealistic goals for the "snap back" of my skin! I may not have been as heavy but at 234lbs on a 4'10" frame my bmi was close to 50. Yet I still thought I would have a Barbie body in the end... Boy was I dead wrong!!!

At 11 months out I weigh 113lbs which is fantastic and while I look amazing in clothes, in a bathing suit, short sleeve shirt or naked in the mirror are totally the opposite in my opinion! I have been left with greatly toned upper arms with bat wings underneath, and ripply saggy inner thighs... I chalk this all up to the fact that those were the areas that I was the heaviest and that's why the didnt snap back... My butt looks great and so do my abs... I'm not giving up the fight though and maybe in more time they may tighten up to some degree, if not oh well... Life goes on!

My insurance will at 2 years post. But realistically I may try at 3 years. I'm just not liking this skin situation what so ever.

Great job on the numbers!!!! At 113 the amount of skin is probably minimal:)

I had a Tummy Tuck at a yr post op RNY. Insurance pd some. I want to do more body work when I have this one paid off. My inner thighs are wrinkled, my arms are floppy and I have a droopy butt :(. The next thing I want is to convert the TT to a LBL to help reduce outer thigh and butt droop.

I am not young lol

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
