Just waiting for the call to have my surgery!

Recommended Posts

Hi all. My first post. Reading all the threads. They're very helpful. I'm so anxious for my surgery but very scared too. Not sure if my brain is as ready for this lifestyle change as my body is. How have you all dealt with your food addictions?

Wrapping your head around having to let go of the one thing that brought you comfort is very scary. It's been your constant companion and you're forced to let it go cold turkey. However, it is issues within ourselves, not related to food, that we need to discover and deal with. Once that is complete, you have to arm your mind and constantly remind yourself that this addiction is slowly killing you. Arm your mind to protect yourself every time you have a craving, by finding a distraction, walking away, drinking a glass of Water. The power is in your mind, you just have to utilize it. The sleeve makes it easier.

I just had my surgery 3 week ago and my mind still addicted to food.< /p>

Right now I want to eat, and my wife is always telling me to think if all the problems I had and to control the mind.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
