3 year user and in pain. Help

Recommended Posts

I have had my band three years and lost 100 pounds...for a while. A year and a half ago I got reflux really bad and found out that my band slipped. I went back for surgery and got if fixed, but was too afraid to get it fill.

Back came 80 of the pounds so I got some refilled, but am embarassed to say I broke all the eating rules. I think I am now paying for it this week. At my band site I am having really bad pains after I eat about a half hour later. I don't know if my band slipped again or if my band has erroded? Not sure what that feels like. They embarrashed me so badly last time I went for a fill last summer, I have not been back. I am worried and don't know what to do. :help:

I second what Jack said, and if it's the same office and ANYONE starts to make you feel bad, stop them mid-sentence. Tell them you know you'e messed up but making you embarrassed is the reason you never came back before. You pay them, not the other way around, they should be concerned about client satisfaction. Just say something like, "I don't appreciate you talking to me like that, it doesn't help."

Worry will not give a clue as to what might be happening, nor will worry fix whatever might need help....

Get yourself to your physician at once (please!) and tell us what you learned.

Putting off finding out what is the cause of our misery, does nothing to make solutions any easier, in my own experience.....

Last Sunday night I was hit with such great pain, I decided to go to the ER. Turns out they symptons I have been experiencing for the last week were Gallstone. Go figure. Anyway, I was in surgery by Wednesday and am happily recovering at home.

It may sound funny, but I am kind of glad it happened. I am trying to get back on the healthy eating path and boy did this give me a huge push in the right direction.

Thanks for all your supportive comments. I will be back at work on Monday and have already implemented better eating strategies. :clap2: Hope you all have a great week.

Christine

I'm glad to hear that you are OK... but.... keep up the good habits to stay healthy... good habits include seeing your doc. when needed! I hope that you will not be embarrassed there again, but, when you need them-- you need them-- even for fills (or find yourself a new one).

Christine, glad to hear you are doing better. Keep your head up. Go into your surgeon and recommit. That is all you can do. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
